A Spinster's Folly

She was determined to remain a spinster—until love gave her a new reason to dream.

Lady Eugenie Drayton is tired of being told what she can and cannot do. Bold, clever, and entirely too curious for Society’s liking, she decides to take matters into her own hands by sneaking into an Oxford lecture disguised as a man. But her plan is swiftly upended when she is discovered by none other than Charles Ellsworth, Earl of Bedford—a man far too proper, far too persistent, and far too memorable, especially after the kiss they once shared.

Charles has spent the past few months trying to forget the infuriating and enchanting Lady Eugenie. He appreciates her desire to learn more than Society believes acceptable. But when he finds her where no lady should be, he’s forced to intervene. Reluctantly, they strike a bargain—one that forces them into close proximity and threatens the fragile walls around both their hearts.

As their partnership teeters on the edge of scandal and something far more dangerous, Eugenie must decide if she truly desires a life of independence…or the kind of love that would change everything.

As the second novel in the Courting the Unconventional series by author Laura Beers, A Spinster's Folly continues the series. This is a light-hearted, clean and wholesome romance set in the Regency era. All books in this series have their own Happily-Ever-After and are best enjoyed in proper order.

My Review:

Eugenie Drayton had me shaking my head (in a good way) at the

lengths in which she would go to defy societal conventions. This included costuming and secretly attending a class at University. Her thirst for knowledge and her unstoppableness made her the kind of young lady I would love to befriend. I loved her outspoken nature and her brother Niles trying to keep her from doing something rash, which took a lot of patience on his part.

Eugenie is one young lady that Charles Ellsworth just can’t get off of his mind. He is very supportive of her wanting to explore her interests and gain her independence. Eugenie was a lucky gal to have had Charles as her most understanding friend and champion.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

“ She wanted to expand her mind, push boundaries, and feel the thrill of stepping into a world that unequivocally told her that she didn’t belong,”

“People who read are far more interesting than their counterparts who don’t.”

Things to enjoy:
