A Royal Obligation

About the Book:

His throne is on the line, and so is his heart.
All he must do is fall in love with the right girl.

Prince Barrett never planned to fall in love, but the law requires him to take a wife of royal standing to ascend the throne. Hoping for a decent match, he invites Lady Charlotte to the palace and attempts to fall in love as his time to marry runs out. But someone else unexpectedly catches his eye and threatens to upend his plans.

Jules’s passion is for tutoring students, but she never thought she’d have to teach the man she loves how to date another woman. As she coaches the prince through his efforts to develop a relationship with Lady Charlotte, it becomes evident that it’s the wrong relationship deepening, and she may be too far in to pull her heart out now.

A Royal Obligation is Book 1 in the Royal Hearts series. This is a sweet, closed-door romance and can be read as a standalone.

My Review:

I enjoyed this story of tongue tied Prince Barrett trying to court Lady Charlotte, a childhood friend. He needs to marry in order to become king and she needs to marry before her 30th birthday. It should be a perfect match, but he needs help in not falling over his words all the time. But, as he needs coaching from a third party, love gets in the way and Barrett has a difficult decision to make. Marry out of obligation or marry for love.

I enjoyed the funny meet cute scene of Barrett being mistaken for a purse thief by Jules. You could tell that Jules and Barrett were going to be a great match right then. Wading through all of the messiness of courtship and royal court together life made this a fun read.
